This was a final project done for a photography class my sophomore year of college.

In beginning thisproject, I originally intended to focus not only on portraits, butalso on inanimate objects, attempting to approach my photography ofthe two the same way. However, I realized that the portraitsprovided for such a narration between them and the environmentalaspect of the sandwiched negative that I didn't need or want tophotograph inanimate things. As a series, these images explore therelationship between someone and some environmental aspect, usually aplant or a flower. Narratives arise when two negatives aresandwiched together, and through the expressions of my models, thosenarratives can explore how the models' emotions are influenced by theenvironments that I have physically sandwiched them with. These allhave a more serious nature to them – something thats morecontemplative and sad, rather than happy or excited. This seriousmanner helps accentuate the pondering and meditative nature of thepeople in their environment and focuses on making the person one withtheir surroundings.
